Walk New Haven: Cultural Heritage Tours & the New Haven Museum Invite you to join us for a Jane’s Walk: New Haven As a Model City 1638 – Present

Sunday, May 5, 2 P.M.

Starting at the flagpole on the New Haven Green

Starting from the original central New Haven Green, we will explore the successes and shortcomings of city planning efforts, through the lens of Jane Jacobs’ love of cities. These walks are held throughout the world in honor of Jane Jacobs’ (1916-2006) birthday May 4th and her contributions to urban planning and design. She believed that healthy, vibrant cities should have mixed uses, frequent streets, varied buildings, and concentrations of people.

The City parking meters are free on Sundays, and there are spaces around the Green on Church Street, Chapel Street, Elm Street, and Temple Street. The walk will last about an hour and a half. The walk leaders include EHC Board members Robert P. Forbes, Ph.D., Aaron Goode, Rhoda Zahler Samuel; along with Richard Munday, Architect, and Joanna Steinberg of the New Haven Museum.

Registration is free and space is limited, so please use this button!
